Grand Canyon National Park

Flying into Arizona did take some time coming from the South of The Sunshine State but my co-adventurer, Briana, made it fly by smooth as butter. April 8, 2023 was a gorgeous day as me and my wonderful girlfriend set out from Phoenix in the morning to head to the iconic Grand Canyon National Park!

Along the way the drive showed us so many wonders you just don’t see in the beach lifestyle of a Floridian. Mountains peaking over one another begging to be climbed and conquered. Flat plateaus lulling you in to stop and watch the day breeze by high above the World.

All the colors such a contrast from the environment of constant blues, yellows and whites I am used to. Now to be surrounded by the layers of bright to dark oranges standing sharp against the splashes of green cacti and other flora that calls this place home.

Red Rock State Park

There were quite a lot of other visitors that day, but that’s to be expected at one of the most visited parks in the nation. Still, we never felt like we were crowed or couldn’t see something we wanted to with how big the viewing area was and how many vistas there were. The views were absolutely breathtaking and has an illusion of looking like a painting hanging in front of you just because of its enormous scale.

After trekking around the bowl taking pictures at some of the overlooks we took a trip back out of the park where the Grand Canyon Airport was waiting. Booking a helicopter flight was super easy and i have to say it is an absolute must when visiting. Being able to see the huge boulders the size of houses look like tiny pebbles is a truly humbling experience. Our pilot took us down into some of the valleys and around pillars of solid stone letting all of us get the feeling of how far it really is from one side of the canyon to the other, massive. I am so happy my first time in a helicopter was able to be around such a unique and beautiful view.

After about an hour of flying around the Rim we landed back down at the airport. With just an hour till sunset my girlfriend and I rushed back to the park to find a nice little spot to ourselves to watch the end of the day. It was a wonderful end to a great adventure and it fills with me such joy to be able to write about it and to reminisce about the entire trip! Thank you for reading and happy travels!
